Ingredients
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 cup half-and-half cream
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 8 slices, thick French (or Italian) bread
Preparation Procedure
- Measure flour into a large mixing bowl.
- Slowly whisk in the cream.
- Add eggs, salt, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar. Whisk
until smooth.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. When the skillet is hot,
melt enough butter to coat it completely.
- Soak bread slices in the mixture until saturated. Cook bread
on each side until golden brown.
- Sprinkle a little icing sugar over the French toast before
serving.
- Serve with toping of choice (sugar, syrup, fresh fruit,
yogurt, fruit reduction, ice cream, etc.)
Note: If you want to make these into a Christmas time treat, substitute egg nog for the cream and add ½ tsp. of ground nutmeg. |
